Michele LaRue will perform the classic story, “The Minister”

Michele LaRue, a professional actress with a touring repertoire of one-woman plays and short stories, will present a dramatic reading of a classic story on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 7:00p.m.at the Kearny Main Library at 318 Kearny Avenue.  Ms.LaRue will perform “The Minister” by Annie Hamilton Donnell.

According to Ms. LaRue, vibrant short-story readings illuminate a variety of themes, seasons, and holidays. Even though firmly rooted in the past, these tales connect immediately with modern audiences, who see themselves and their own familiar dilemmas in those of our ancestors. The stories were written to be read aloud: their powerful verbs, evocative adjectives, and rich dialects delight the ear.  She states that "Over the years I've seen contemporary adults light up like children being told a story. Despite TV and films, the internet and special effects, we still crave to simply listen to a tale well told."

Michele LaRue has performed with the East Lynne Theatre Company, which specializes in American plays of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.  She has toured nationally with The Yellow Wallpaper” which has been performed at international conferences in Kentucky and Maine.  A member of the New Jersey Repertory Company, Ms. LaRue is a member of Actors’ Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild and AFTRA, the American Federation of Television and Radio Art.

All are invited to attend, free of charge, although seating is limited.   For more information, please call 201-998-2666.
